Description
Strengthening Youth Work Across Romania
This initiative expands FNT’s capacity to host international volunteers and scale our impact through a nationwide network of 10 youth centers. By tackling key societal challenges—including digital transformation, environmental sustainability, and low civic participation—the project fosters a more inclusive and empowered generation.
The Need
Many young people face limited access to quality youth work, low civic engagement, and barriers to employment. This project bridges these gaps by increasing access to personal and professional development opportunities, particularly for young people with fewer opportunities.
Core Objectives & Expected Impact
Our goal is to elevate youth work in Romania, foster international solidarity, and support community-based initiatives.
Expected results include:
-
Increased Participation: Greater youth engagement in local and national initiatives.
-
Skill Development: Enhanced social, digital, civic, and employability skills.
-
Stronger Communities: Deeper civic engagement and improved social cohesion.
-
Organizational Growth: Heightened capacity to deliver high-quality, regional projects.
Activities & Implementation
International volunteers are hosted across 10 Romanian youth centers, receiving continuous training and mentorship. Together with local youth, they co-create activities tailored to community needs, including:
-
Non-formal learning sessions and skill-building workshops.
-
Debates and campaigns focused on democratic life and environmental awareness.
-
Cultural events and solidarity outreach.
Participants & Partners
-
Participants: International volunteers (ages 18–30) and local youth (ages 14–35). We place a special focus on inclusion, welcoming refugees and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
-
Partners: International sending organizations, local NGOs, community stakeholders, and European networks such as ERYICA and Trans Europe Halles.
