I am currently an ESC volunteer at Fundația Județeană de Tineret Alba (FJTA), and this experience has been a vital intersection of personal growth and professional discovery. When you are young and at the beginning of your journey, there is often a lingering pressure to have everything figured out. We live in a world that moves incredibly fast, making it easy to wonder if you are doing enough or if your skills are actually making an impact. Volunteering through the European Solidarity Corps has provided the space I needed to answer those questions by doing, rather than just overthinking.
What I have valued most during my time here is the opportunity to bridge the gap between digital strategy and community engagement. I had the chance to lead social media promotion workshops, helping others understand how to communicate ideas effectively in a crowded digital landscape. Organizing these activities was not just about sharing technical knowledge; it was about building confidence, both for the participants and for myself. Seeing a plan move from a rough draft to a successful event gave me a renewed sense of professional agency. It allowed me to sharpen my skills in event coordination and strategic communication, showing me how to seamlessly turn abstract ideas into real community actions.
Beyond the daily tasks, the true heart of this experience has been the interaction with the team. Working in an environment where ideas are encouraged and collaboration is the norm has been incredibly rewarding. I gained so much valuable insight not only from the official training sessions I participated in, but also from simply being present and observing the other workshops organized here. The real learning often happened in those shared moments—brainstorming, problem-solving on the fly, and learning from the diverse perspectives of my colleagues.
I guess what I am trying to say is that volunteering through ESC is kind of like a trial run for your future. It gives you the chance to truly test your passions in a real-world setting without the fear of making mistakes. It has helped me clear the "what ifs" from my path and focus on what truly excites me. This journey at FJT Alba is more than just a temporary chapter; it is a unique opportunity to grow both personally and professionally, while contributing to something that truly matters.
